We had our young baby with us and...they were very accommodating. They warmed up his food and never at any point did we get the impression he wasn’t welcome (which sometimes in a pub setting on a Friday early evening you can feel a bit like they are glaring at you to get out) I had the lasagne and I have to say it was the best lasagne I’ve had from a pub.. EVER!! My husband had the lamb shank which also looked delicious! Thank you so much for a proper pub grub dinner and a very warm welcome! More

Prices for coffees were high, nice view of the quay notwithstanding; sugar came as a cube on the coffee spoon which had spilt and turned it into a syrupy mess in the saucer. Not a great impression - frankly we felt our presence for just drinks was viewed as an inconvenience.

Will definitely return if we pass through the area again.

  Decent, busy and friendly pub serving very good food at very reasonable prices though I thought drinks were a little over average but will definately return.

We received a lovely friendly welcome and our hostess was very helpful. My generous portion of lasagne was very tasty and I was able to have 'safe' chunky chips too! The Crown and Anchor may not be the most glamorous pub in Winchester but we'll definitely be visiting again.

Found out someone in the chef's family is gluten intolerant so this makes sense! 1st time in ages I've had a meal out and not had a reaction after. AND a bonus, the staff are great - thanks to Tom and Amy for making it such a great xmas lunch. REALLY popular spot so definitely book.

On arrival with our 2 dogs we were greeted by the... read more fantastic friendly staff who gave us a table with some space and promptly attended to the dogs with a bowl of water and a biscuit whilst we perused the menu, felt very spoiled for choice, everything is homemade by the talented chefs by also offering gluten free choices, I had a chicken and cider pie which was so huge I couldn't finish it but got to take the remainder away with us, my husband had steak and kidney pie which he devoured in minutes.
